Either you can follow the travel brochure like all the other tourists or you can just go exploring through the South of France. Wandering around this area is one of the best ways to spend a holiday. All the typical hot spots in the region are designed to be tourist attractions and lose some of the wonder of the region.
The South of France is home to some of the most stunning parks and nature preserves in all of Europe. These areas are usually located on the outskirts of any of the major cities. They are great places to observe the original architecture and landscape of the area.
If you want to really dive into the culture than plan on visiting some of the museums in the area. With 130 museums in the area, you would have a hard time visiting them all. Each one has some amazing pieces that document the history of the area from the Greeks and the Romans all the way up to the present. You will be amazed at what has taken place in the region.
Churches and chapels dot the landscape in the region. They bring together some of the most sophisticated techniques of the times that they were built. Combining stunning arches and statues, these wonders have stood the test of time and are like a time portal into the past.
When you visit the region, ask around for some of the guided tours that will walk you through the history of the region. Most of the time you can find an agency that will allow you to sit down and plan your trip to include all the things you want to see. If you have the cash, see if you can get a personalized guided tour through the areas that will allow you to spend as much time at each location as you want without having to get back on a bus every few minutes with a group of strangers.
