Family Holidays in South Of France

There are many options for family holidays in the South of France. Whether you are looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday on the beach or you are looking to learn about the history of the region, the South of France is an ideal location for your family holiday.

If you are looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday then I suggest you stay away from Monaco during the summer months. This is the biggest tourist location and it is way to busy to enjoy some family time. The beaches of Nice and Cannes are much more family oriented. Once you arrive, ask some of the locals for beach suggestions that aren’t as crowded. Some of the most stunning and relaxing beaches in the area don’t show up on all the tourist flyers.

If you are looking for the cultural experience, I suggest you plan your trip with any of the 130+ museums in the area. There are museums that are specific to certain periods as well as certain types of art and artifacts. Most of them have parts that cater to the young as well as the young at heart.

These events range from sports oriented festivals to cultural festivals and even include one of the biggest film festivals in the world. These events are great ways to dive into the local culture while having a once in a lifetime experience.

The South of France also offers some amazing sporting opportunities. Plan on bringing along your golf clubs if you want to hit the links at some of the most amazing courses in the region. The views from the course range from majestic mountains to playing alongside the ocean. If you are looking for something a little more exciting than you should also check out the ski resorts in the area. A cabin at the bottom of a mountain is a great place to spend a family holiday.

If you plan on staying near the coast then renting one of the many stunning holiday villas in the South of France is probably your most cost effective option. Although villa rentals in this area are expensive – particularly on the French Riviera in August – it still works out significantly cheaper for families than staying in a hotel.
