Devotees of classical music will once again make for The French Riviera in March and May, for evening recitals over two weekends.
The historic town’s flavour and style has always attracted the wealthy and famous, and over spring 2011, the prestigious Salle Jean Despas in St Tropez will again welcome aficionados and world class exponents of classical music.
Set on the central square of St Tropez, this elegant venue is small enough to feel intimate yet remains prominent enough to attract gifted performers and serious international attention. Although the festival is in its infancy, this year’s guests are admired worldwide for their musical mastery.
Specialising in music for strings, the guest virtuosos in March include the soprano Patricia Fernandez and the Cello Fan Octet on March 27th, performing Villa Lobos, Offenbach, Sollima and Faivre.
The following evening’s ministrations are presented by the Caliente Quator with work by Piazzola, Salgan and Beytelmann.
In May, piano maestros will take centre stage with Claude Kahn on the 1st of the month and then on the following evening, Jean-Pierre Armengaud will be tickling the ivories with panache and style.
A short walk from St Tropez’s harbour, along beautiful tree lined boulevards with a wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere, the location is guaranteed to enthral and captivate Festival goers.
On the Place des Lices, the Salle Jean Despas is at the heart of St Tropez, with some of France’s finest restaurants and bars just moments away.
Quality Villas can provide luxury holiday villas in St Tropez for anyone wanting to experience this truly memorable cultural event.
France has exquisite classical music, and the food there is just as exquisite.
